11 Jan Koiné Album Art

I had the pleasure of working with Koiné and Artist Jason Jaspersen to do the layout for some album art. For Visit, their concept was to create an image where visitors to the church were like tourists, wandering through life. The pastor, plays the role of a butler who welcomes you into the church which is the closest Christians will get to seeing Heaven, while on Earth.
The final album artwork is an assemblage of photographs I took and edited to add classic symbols of the Christian Church, and stock photography.
for 1 of the interior panels of this tri-fold CD case had a portion of a multimedia triptych from Artist Jason Jaspersen. The CD artwork laid seamlessly over the top of the image.
The 2 interior panels, were meant to resemble an antique church bulletin outlining the order of service. Each song on the album was meant to serve as a musical representation of those sections.

We teamed up again to create the album artwork for Cross Heart Rose Sky Ring, a collection of Martin Luther hymns to commemorate the anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation.
For this project, the concept came from the Luther seal, featuring a black cross on a white heart atop a rose. Behind the rose was a blue, representing the sky and all of it was encompassed within a gold ring. We wanted to represent all of those elements without being too incredibly obvious as to what we were referencing. Our solution was a multimedia collage featuring handmade lettering windows which gave view of the elements the word represented showing through.

Like the interior artwork for visit, the CD artwork sat seamlessly over the interior artwork. The woodcut print over a photo background depicts Martin Luther staring up at a vision of his seal as if it was hovering over him. The concept is that if were were to be viewing the floating rose from his point of view, we would see the Luther Seal as we typically see it.
